Alok Mahapatra has spent the last 16 years working in the international remittance industry and has expertise in product development, business development and process integrations and innovations for the cross border remittance market.

Before joining Microfinance International Corporation (MFIC), Mr. Mahapatra worked as the Chief Operating Officer of Smart Exchange.  He was actively involved in the acquisition of a 23-year-old money remittance firm in the U.A.E.  Subsequently, he led the restructuring and reorganization processes and oversaw the operations of the firm.  He was also  extensively involved in chartering new business initiatives for the firm.

During his assignments at different corporations, Mr. Mahapatra has held various management level positions.  From 2001 to 2007, he headed the marketing and overall business development for Moneydart Global Services, Inc. and Xpress Money in North America.  He was also involved in multiple integration projects with large money transfer firms based in the U.S. and Canada.  Previously, while working for the U.A.E. Exchange Group, Mr. Mahapatra acquired extensive experience in designing innovative cross border remittance services for un-banked and under-banked customers.  Prior to this, he also worked in the consumer electronics industry and was responsible for building a wide retail network and customer service centers.

Mr. Mahapatra holds a master's degree in Business Administration.
