Microfinance International Corporation (MFIC) has entered a strategic partnership with Construmex, a socially-responsible company under the CEMEX umbrella. The two companies will work together to help Mexican immigrants to finance their home improvement and home purchase in Mexico. MFIC will offer Construmex services and products at its wholly owned and operated Alante Financial branches, which offers a diverse line of financial services that are tailored to the financial needs of immigrants.

The partnership is part of MFIC’s efforts to help immigrant families to gain better access to financial services at the both sides of the remittance equation thereby improve their economic well being. Since 2006, MFIC has offered “transnational loans,” which enable immigrants to apply for and repay a loan to finance their home purchase or start of business in El Salvador. The partnership with Construmex will enable MFIC to dramatically expand the outreach in the Mexican immigrant community.

“We are delighted to partner with Construmex, which an established track record and an excellent product tailored for the Mexican community in the U.S.” said Romi Bhatia, VP, International Operations at MFIC.

“Through this new alliance entered into with MFIC, we are confident we’ll be in an even better position to help immigrants build equity, become part of Mexico’s strengthening economy and, of course, allow them to fulfill their dream,” said Andrés Montalvo, General Manager for Construmex in the United States. Construmex has helped more than 8,000 Mexican immigrants to buy or build their home in Mexico since it started operations in 2001. In addition to the purchase of a home, customers can obtain financing for construction or repair of their home through Construmex.

Alante Financial will hold a day-long information session for interested clients on August 15th and 16th at its branches in the Washington DC region and Delaware. For more information about the session, call 1-866-925-2683.
