R. MICHAEL BARTH
Director
Mr. Michael Barth is currently Senior Director, Business Development at Darby Overseas Investments, Ltd., a pioneer in emerging markets private equity investing with experience and on the ground presence in Asia, Central and Eastern Europe and Latin America.. He is primarily responsible for strengthening Darby's worldwide investor relations and fundraising efforts and in identifying and developing potential acquisitions on an opportunistic basis.
Prior to joining Darby in 2006, Mr. Barth served five years as Chief Executive Officer of FMO (the Netherlands Development Finance Company), one of the world’s largest bilateral development banks. In his last two years at FMO, Mr. Barth also served as Chairman of the European Association of Private Sector-Oriented Development Banks (EDFI). Prior to his tenure at FMO, he was Director of the Capital Markets Development Department at the World Bank. Between 1982 and 1997, Mr. Barth worked at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group where he was responsible for capital market investments and the development of many groundbreaking emerging markets investment funds. Prior to the IFC, he held several positions in Citicorp.
Mr. Barth holds a Masters Degree in International Economics from the John Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies and a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Brandeis University. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association and a member of the Bretton Woods Committee.
